Accommodation

Kalyan Youth Service currently provides crisis accommodation with support for young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This includes a purpose-built shelter, and self-contained units located in East Mackay. The accommodation program is funded by Queensland Government Department of Housing. Are you homeless? You might be considered homeless if you are:

  • Sleeping rough on the streets or other public spaces
  • Squatting in a disused house or building
  • Living in a tent, caravan, or car
  • Couch surfing – staying at a friend’s or with family but not a resident, or don’t have your own room
  • Staying in crisis accommodation

Are you at risk of homelessness?

You might be considered at risk of homelessness if:

  • It is not safe for you at home
  • You have been or might soon be asked to leave your home
  • You are in danger of being evicted from your home
